Cynthia Marge Gemmen

Cynthia Marge Gemmen (Beerthuis), age 88, of Kentwood went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 19, 2024. She was born at home on April 10, 1935 as a twin and grew up splitting things “a half and two.” Cynthia loved chocolate, cats and listening to country music. She enjoyed Nascar, traveling all over the United States, especially New York and the World’s Fair. She also loved growing beautiful roses with her husband, Ardell. She was active at Unity Reformed church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell; parents; John and Grace Beerthuis; sister, Kathleen (Floyd) Brummel; brother, Henry (Lorraine) Beerthuis. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Carol Gemmen (Tim Haisma); twin brother, Arend (Barbara) Beerthuis, and in-laws Lois Schreur; Harvis (Eunice) Gemmen; Bonnie (Henry) LePoire; Bob (Sandy) Gemmen; Terry (Betty) Gemmen; Mary Ohlmann. She has many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Mary Freehauf. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Reverend Mark Bergsma officiating. Burial will be held at Fairplains Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice (Trillium Woods).
