Cynthia Bartelds

Cynthia J. Bartelds, age 76, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Cindy was born on February 15, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Helen Dingman. She married the love of her life, Dale A. Bartelds in 1966. He preceded her in death in June of 2022. Mrs. “B,” as she was called, worked as the secretary at Covenant Christian High School for over 30 years and found great joy in working with the students every day. She treasured her time at CCHS with the covenant youth. Cindy enjoyed traveling, camping, shopping, and reading but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Byron Center Protestant Reformed Church for many years and was so thankful for her church family there. Cindy was a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves four children, Scott (Lori) Bartelds, Timothy (Heather) Bartelds, Elizabeth (Bryan) Van Baren, Stephen Bartelds; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, William (Rose Marie) Dingman; sister, Sherri (Paul) Rhoades; sister-in-law, Sandra Howard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dwayne Howard. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Byron Center Protestant Reformed Church, 1945 84th St. SW, Byron Center with Prof. Russell Dykstra officiating. The burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-9 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and 10-10:45 am at the church prior to the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to Covenant Christian High School.
