Crystal May Krause

Crystal May (LaPree) Krause, age 96 of Sparta, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 4, 2026. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, Elza and Gladys LaPree; husband of 60 years, Charles; sisters, Caroline LaPree and Darlene Wheeler; brothers, Howard and Lyle LaPree; and granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Hilliker. Surviving are her children, Sharon (Robert) Langley, Ricky (Marlene) Krause, Tammy (Jeff) Hilliker; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and beloved dog Rascal. 

Crystal’s hobbies included bicycling tours, participating in the Fantastic Funsters Band, being an active member of the Peacock Senior Center, founding the Nature as Seen in Lake County group, and training/rescuing animals. 

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Nikki Grindle and Peggy Ebhardt for their love and compassionate care over the years; MaKenzie for Door Dashing Crystal’s favorite items to her; Jenna for preparing Crystal her favorite meals and always being willing to lend a listening ear; Will for the lifetime supply of chocolate Frosty’s and her favorite snacks; Jeff and Tammy for taking her on visits to the cabin and making her pork steaks on the grill; Dana, Sydney, Josie, and Savy for all of their special visits, and Sabrina for stepping in and being her personal nurse when needed. Her recent days have been a blessing because of all of you!

To honor Crystal’s wishes, the family will gather privately at a later time. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Orlando Police Heroes Foundation.
