Cornelius “Casey” Boersma

Cornelius “Casey” Boersma, age 91, of Grand Rapids, passed into glory on Monday, December 2, 2019. He was the son of Harry and Grace Boersma. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Huizenga; brothers: Evert and Frederick; sisters: Clara Weaver and Sharon Workman.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Grace (Wiersma); daughter, Kristine and Jerry Dykstra;  and their children and grandchildren: Kerry and Scott Heyboer (Charlie Grace, Quinn, Gideon, Sawyer), Brad Dykstra, Kim and Joey Graham (Jaxson, Kennedy Grace); son-in-law, Jack and Nancy Huizenga and their children and grandchildren: Mandi and Elias Ortega (Luna and Lucien), Robin and Greg Landheer (Grant, Morgan, Westen); sister, Kathy Van Goor; sisters-in-law: Evie and Les Beimers, Marty Demink, Kay Workman; several nieces and nephews. He proudly served our country in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Casey actively served the Lord in his church community. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, at Raybrook Manor Chapel, 2121 Raybrook St. SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Bruce Huseby officiating. A time for visiting and refreshments will follow the service. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Raybrook Supportive Care 4th Floor and Faith Hospice for their loving care of Casey.
