Cora “Connie” Kuik

Cora “Connie” Kuik (nee VanderStarre), age 89, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Redeemer and Lord on Monday, June 11, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Harold Braam; brother, Evert VanderStarre. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laurel and Charles Sweeney, Lynne and Andrew Valeri, David and Wilma Kuik, Gwen and Douglas Ballast; grandchildren, Nicole Sweeney, Meredith Sweeney, Amanda Valeri, Jessica Kuik, Melissa Kuik, Samantha Ballast, Jacob Ballast; great granddaughters, Amiyah and Amari Kuik; siblings,  Adrian and Marge VanderStarre, Joan and Roger Poll, Irma and Alvin Wychers, Susanne VanderStarre, Shuart and Betty Kuik, Perle and Melvin Rosema; nieces and nephews. Cora grew up in Grand Rapids and also lived in California, Boston, Seattle and Annapolis, Maryland. She lived a life of service in nursing and to her family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, June, 15, 11 am at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastors Cal VanderMeyden and Curt Walters officiating.  Interment at Winchester Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, and from 10-10:45 am Friday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holland Home.
