Conrad Richard “Dick” Spiegel

Conrad Richard (Dick) Spiegel, age 82, of Caledonia was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 14, 2019. He was predeceased by his son, Konrad Nicholas Spiegel. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; children, Stephen Spiegel, James and Heidi Spiegel; grandchildren, Dorothy Ann, Samuel Robert, Grace, Olivia, and Isabella; brothers, Msgr. Robert Spiegel, Fr. Tom Spiegel, and Fr. John Spiegel; brothers-in-law, Tom and Rose Nowak, Leonard and Joanne Nowak, several nieces, nephew and cousins. Dick valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant. Dick was a loving, caring, husband, father and grandfather. He was an extrovert who loved interacting with people and delving into their needs and wants. He was born in Burlington, IA and attended Maur Hill Prep School before going into the seminary for a period of time. He eventually moved to Grand Rapids where he met and married Shirley. Dick enjoyed taking the kids to Disney World and playing golf. He was an adventurous individual who enjoyed new challenges and exploring different careers. He loved Norman Rockwell art and co-founded a company to make and sell Rockwell collectibles. He was an active and faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church. At Dick’s request, he has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
