Clarence “Joe” Slachter

Clarence “Joe” Slachter, age 82, of Hudsonville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 10, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery and brother, Norman Slachter. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; his children, Rodney and Lisa Slachter, Amy and Doug Vander Woude; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Sidney and Marge Slachter, LeRoy Slachter; sisters-in-law, Josie Timmer, Gayle Froehle; several nieces and nephews. Joe proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime employee of Steelcase and the Grand Rapids Auto Auction. Funeral services will be held on Monday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Gerry Koning and Rev. Doug Keller officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Van Andel Institute for Cancer Research.
