MCDERMOTT - Clare Ellen McDermott, 70, passed away on April 3 after a valiant battle with cancer. A devoted mother, grandmother and friend, Ellen's wit, spirit and generosity was evident to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She loved stained glass making, going to concerts and retained an avid interest in local politics and charitable organizations in Arlington, Va., where she lived for 51 years. Her legacy and presence remains with us, as she is survived by her son William (Jennifer) McDermott; granddaughter, Grace McDermott; nieces Lisa and Shannon and her close family friend, Michel Alderson. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on April 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Advent Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia.
