Clarabelle “Clare” Kapteyn, age 96, of Grand Rapids went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Kramer and her second husband, Melvin “Bud” Kapteyn; and her son, Larry Kramer. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Pat and Mike Leatherman, Cindy and Bryan Roodvoets; step-children, Sharon and Dan Elzinga; Randy and Kathy Kapteyn, Jeff and Laura Kapteyn; grandchildren, Steve and Violet Kramer, Jeff and Kelly Kramer, Matt and Ashley Kramer, Troy and Barb Leatherman, Kelli and Gary Dykstra, Chris and Amanda Leatherman, Sara and Logan Weis, Taylor Roodvoets, Katie Roodvoets, Landan Roodvoets; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Schaaf; sister-in-law, Pat Westra; extended family and friends. Clare enjoyed playing cards, knitting, golfing, and camping but most of all she loved her family and cherishing her time with them. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, with Rev. Richard Hartwell officiating. Burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
