Remembering Cheryl Lynn Mroz

Cheryl “Cherie” Mroz, age 63, of Greenville, was provided a Garden of Peace by her God on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Cherie was a true humanitarian. While providing needs for her children, she worked as a caregiver for mentally challenged adults. She loved her children and enjoyed her work. Cheri was born in Grand Rapids on October 29, 1955. At the age of 2 months, she was adopted by Art and Bernie Anderson, of Wyoming. Cherie brought forth five children:  Jennifer, Greg, Zach, Josh and Mallory. With extreme sadness, Jennifer, Greg and Mallory passed away before their mother. Her parents are also deceased; Art passed away in 1983 and Bernie passed away on June 12, 2019. Cherie is survived by her sons, Zach and Josh. Josh gave his mother three grandchildren, Krista, Jordyn and Tyler. She adored them and spent every available moment with them. She is also survived by her husband, John Mroz; grandson, Shae (Mallory’s son); brother, James Anderson; biological sister, Karen Jones. Through Art and Bernie’s desire to adopt, Cherie was introduced into two large families--many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Anderson and Homrich families, as well as the Mroz and Jones families. These families blessed her with eleven grandchildren. For Cherie, love of family and friends, while sharing time together, was all that mattered, and she cherished those moments. Cherie also had a heart for animals; she embraced dogs. Her first protectors were labradors, Stacie and Hunter. After they spent their lives protecting her, she downsized to Shihtzus:  Spirit, Java, Avalon, and Starlette. People were unable to pass through the front door of the house without these four beastly animals greeting you. Cherie was a member of a Shihtzu Club that met periodically, throwing themed parties with their little companions. Like Stacey and Hunter before them, these small dogs would protect her and find a bed near her each night. Cherie loved her canine companions, and they loved her. Her triumphs throughout her challenging and difficult life shall be remembered by many. Cheryl Lynn Gene Anderson-Mathews-Mroz is a true champion. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with a luncheon to follow. A service will be held at 2:45 pm at the chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming.
