Cheri Lynn Berends

Cheri Lynn Berends, age 74, of Byron Center, formerly of Wyoming, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Cheri loved to travel the country with her family and friends. She was recipient of a lung transplant in Grand Rapids in December of 2013, gifting her 9 extra years to experience sporting events, concerts, craft shows, and adventures with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was the center of her family and her memory will live on with her children and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary L. Berends; son, William; parents, Rae and Katherine Carpenter. She will be lovingly remembered by her life partner of over 25 years, Donald Karston; children: Debra (Donald) Beardsley, Laura (Matthew) Berends-Stowe, David (Trish) Berends; grandchildren: Amanda, Kendra, Jesse II (Samantha), Christina (Nick), Nathan, Ethan, Kalani, Carter; Eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
