Charlie Gerrit Sjoerdsma, age 5 weeks, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Thursday, August 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Timothy Sjoerdsma; great-grandfathers, Harley Berens, and Donald Nauta. He will be lovingly remembered by his father, TJ Sjoerdsma; mother, Kaitlyn Edwards; big brother, Jake Sjoerdsma; grandmother, Judy Cook; grandfather, Bob Edwards; great-grandmother, Carol Berens; and loving extended family and friends. Charlie loved hugs and snuggling. He will be greatly missed. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

We are so saddened to hear your beautiful baby boy left you so soon @ only 5 weeks old. Apparently God needed him more. It’s so hard to understand how and why these things happen, only God knows. Someday you’ll see him again, and know why he was taken so soon. I know he’s with God & Dad (your Grampa & his great Grampa) and in good hands with all the other loved ones that went on before us. You all have our deepest sympathy! No one can relate to the pain of losing a child until they experience it on their own! It just goes to show again just what a miracle it is to have a baby! Young or old we never know when we are called home. We pray your faith in Jesus will help you during this sad, tragic time. You are all in our thoughts & prayers! We are praying for you all that God gives you hope and remember God loves you and is walking along side of you in this journey of faith.
