Charles Heemstra

HEEMSTRA - Mr. Charles Heemstra aged 88 of Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Jessie Heemstra. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bessie; their children, David (Judy) Heemstra, Karen (Dale) Kreuzer, Jerry (Liz) Heemstra; grandchildren Karla and Kevin Heemstra; sisters, Josephine Fenske, Emma Abma and Evelyn (Willard) Watson; also surviving are Bessie's sisters, Mary DeVries and Theresa (Richard) Fry; several nieces and nephews. He retired from GM after 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII as a Motor Machinist Mate First Class, USNR. The family would like to thank the Staff at Heartland Crestview Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received. Private family services were held. Interment at Rosedale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Activities Fund.
