Charles Gust

Charles “Chuck” Gust, age 85, passed away unexpectedly and went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He is now reunited with his children, Shelly and Craig. Chuck was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. His family was always his number one priority and he never missed any of their activities or sporting events and always supported them in all that they did. Chuck retired from Diesel Technologies after 30 years of employment. He was active at St. Pius X Catholic Church and served his Lord with his time and talents in various ways. Over the years, Chuck and Evalyn enjoyed wintering in Sebring, Florida, and established many relationships there. Chuck enjoyed spending time outside with some of his favorite activities consisting of playing horseshoes, fishing, hunting, and caring for his lawn. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Gust; sister, Charlene McDonald; and brother, Dean Gust. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Evalyn; children, Jody Cull (Jim Walton), Michael (Amanda) Gust; son-in-law, David Brooks; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gust; grandchildren, Matthew, Curtis, Emily, Sarah, Joshua, Tyler, Jacob, Nicholas, Valerie, Layla, and Aidan; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Madeline, Adelyn, and Patrick; sister, Linda Ketchapaw; brother-in-law, Jerry (Bonnie) Randall; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Hugh) Eisen, and Joan Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson SW, Grandville, with Fr. Stephen Durkee presiding. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, September 22, from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Pius Scholarship Fund for Catholic Education or Guiding Light.
