Charles Eddie Bowers

Charles Eddie Bowers, age 76, of Grand Rapids was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 20, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and June Bowers. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Helen; his children, Kim (Mike) Schurr, Chuck (Janet) Bowers; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Edwina (Phil) Yalacki, Ray Bowers, Dave (Evelyn) Bowers, Jane (Jeff) Erhorn; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a large extended family. Charlie valiantly served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling. He is described as a “gruff teddy bear” and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Charlie was a long-time employee of Kelvinator and Steelcase. A memorial service will be held Tuesday 11 am at MKD Kentwood Funeral Chapel, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood with Rev. Joe Livingston officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 10 - 11 am at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Careline Hospice.
