Charles Butler

Charles M. Butler, 82, of Newaygo, Michigan passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his home in the Sanctuary in St. Mary's Nursing Home - Grand Rapids. The Stegenga Funeral Homes are assisting the family with the cremation. There will be a private graveside service at a later date. His urn will be buried in Fairview Cemetery in Manton, Michigan near his parents. Charles Mahlon Butler was born July 15, 1936 in Mayville, Michigan, the son of AJ and Gladys (Brown) Butler. He served in the National Guard out of Graying, Michigan. He married Linda Lou West; they were later divorced. She died on August 23, 2015. He later married Ada Butler; she preceded him in death in 1992. Charlie worked for Kyser's Heaters in Cadillac, MI for many years but his real passion in life was antiquing and going to auctions. He enjoyed horses, livestock and selling furniture. He is survived by his two daughters: Susan Emery of Holland, Michigan and Debra Atkins of Woodbury, Tennessee; grandchildren: Stephen, Michael, Nathaniel, Jami, Samuel, Gabriel, Daniel, Dalton and Dillon; 12 great grandchildren; one sister: Mona Arlt of Traverse City, Michigan; one brother: Everett Butler of Grafton, North Dakota; and one niece and two nephews.
