Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Chad David Herrema, age 50, of Hudsonville, Michigan, passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 23, 2026. Chad was a loving father, son, and brother who cherished his family more than anything else. His greatest pride and joy in this life were his children, Alycia and Colin.
Chad is a Navy veteran who served his country as a Naval Airman in Operation Desert Storm and was very proud of his military service. He was known for his servant's heart and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family, helping with projects, and meeting the needs of those around him. He was generous, kind, funny, and warm. Chad was always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed. His sense of humor and practical jokes, love of family and friends, love for the outdoors and sportsman's activities, and his love for Jesus, were defining attributes of Chad's life.
Chad participated in and served at The Road Map ministry, which was a life-changing experience for him. He wanted every man he met to experience this life-changing ministry for themselves, and he both encouraged and challenged the men around him to step into their God-ordained roles. Chad's life positively influenced the lives of so many others through his encouragement, generosity, and service.
He will be lovingly missed by his children, Alycia and Colin Herrema; parents, Doug Herrema and Pam LaHuis; siblings, Tammy (Herrema) and Ferrell Clark, Shane and Paige Herrema, Todd Herrema, Clint and Andrea Herrema; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at ResLife Church in the ResCenter, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville, with Pastor Trenton Herald officiating. Please enter through doors E or H. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following the service at the church.
A military burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 W. Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012, on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Road Map ministry, at theroadmap.org, would be greatly appreciated. Chad would be so happy to know that his life inspired positive change in others, support for his cherished ministry, and for his "brothers in arms".
