Chad Herrema

September 10, 1975 ~
March 23, 2026

Chad David Herrema, age 50, of Hudsonville, Michigan, passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 23, 2026. Chad was a loving father, son, and brother who cherished his family more than anything else. His greatest pride and joy in this life were his children, Alycia and Colin.

Chad is a Navy veteran who served his country as a Naval Airman in Operation Desert Storm and was very proud of his military service. He was known for his servant's heart and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family, helping with projects, and meeting the needs of those around him. He was generous, kind, funny, and warm. Chad was always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed. His sense of humor and practical jokes, love of family and friends, love for the outdoors and sportsman's activities, and his love for Jesus, were defining attributes of Chad's life.

Chad participated in and served at The Road Map ministry, which was a life-changing experience for him. He wanted every man he met to experience this life-changing ministry for themselves, and he both encouraged and challenged the men around him to step into their God-ordained roles. Chad's life positively influenced the lives of so many others through his encouragement, generosity, and service.

He will be lovingly missed by his children, Alycia and Colin Herrema; parents, Doug Herrema and Pam LaHuis; siblings, Tammy (Herrema) and Ferrell Clark, Shane and Paige Herrema, Todd Herrema, Clint and Andrea Herrema; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at ResLife Church in the ResCenter, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville, with Pastor Trenton Herald officiating. Please enter through doors E or H. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Please join the family for a luncheon immediately following the service at the church.

A military burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 W. Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012, on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Road Map ministry, at theroadmap.org, would be greatly appreciated. Chad would be so happy to know that his life inspired positive change in others, support for his cherished ministry, and for his "brothers in arms".

Chad was such a neat guy and will be dearly missed! Rusty & I have known him since was a boy, along with most of the extended Herrema family. For many years we went to the same church, were in the same friend group, and enjoyed fun and fellowship together. Rusty was Chad’s camp counselor one year and I was his tutor during his home school years. We both so enjoyed Chad, finding him always passionate and energetic especially when he was with his brothers and cousins. They were quite a group of characters and truly “kept us on our toes”. We honor Chad for his military service and his testimony of a Godly Christian man which he so freely shared with others. We are very sorry that we are in Florida now and unable to be at Chad’s funeral to see each of the family. Know that we are praying God’s comfort and grace on each of them as they say their final earthly good-bye to someone so dear. Our hearts especially go out to Doug & Pam, Tammy, Shane, Todd & Clint. PTL that we will all meet again on the other side❤️

Met Chad through a friend before attending a Return encounter through the Road Map. We pray for his families loss and pray that Chad will be remembered well throughout his family and friends. I pray that his relationship with God will bring others to Christ and that they can live in the freedom Christ bestows upon everyone. We also pray that he is at peace and celebrating with God in heaven. We thank Chad for his service to our country, and for his willingness to serve others at the Road Map.

I served with Chad at the road ministry. He was so much fun to serve with but also an awesome Christ loving person to just sit and talk with. Im thankful God put Chad on my path in life. Prayers for his family.

I worked with Chad at Plummers Environmental as he was one of the drivers & he ALWAYS had a smile on his face, a kind word, made WONDERFUL food to share with his coworks, especially when they worked the weekend. I'm so sorry for his family's loss. Chad was indeed a very special human being.
