Ameel, Catherine "Katie" Catherine “Katie” Louise Ameel, age 43, of Allendale passed away on Tuesday, June 18, after a month-long illness.  She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Bob and Judy Messing of Allendale; sister, Christy (and Isaac) Mendoza of Grand Rapids; brothers, Mark (and Nichole) Messing of Mount Pleasant, Matthew Messing of Philadelphia, PA, Ross Ameel of Grand Rapids; nephews, Isaiah and Samuel Mendoza; nieces, Celia Mendoza and Madeline Messing. Katie graduated from Allendale High School and Aquinas College, where she received her bachelor’s degree. Her places of employment included Butterworth Hospital, Holland Home, and several home health care services. A celebration of her life will take place on her birthday, August 3, with relatives and friends meeting the family from 2-4 pm at St. Luke University Church, 6163 Lake Michigan Dr., Allendale.  A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 4 pm with Fr. Brad Schoeberle celebrating, followed by refreshment and fellowship at the church.  The family requests that donations be made to Love INC of Allendale, where she loved to volunteer.
