Catherine “Cathie” Cotton (née Laug), aged 61 of Caledonia, MI passed away while at home with friends early Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert J. Laug and Mary Anne Laug. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Peter Gabriel Cotton and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Simonne Grant; siblings Beth Anne Laug (Kevin Brandt), James Allan (Mary) Laug, Barbara Marie Laug, Robert Ernest (Christine) Laug; nieces and nephews Sarah (Brian) Ingham, Katherine Potter, Jeffery (Lisa) Laug, Gracie Bifulco, Andrew (Amber) Bifulco, Mary Brandt; her faithful canine companion Tinkerbell, and many friends. Cathie was a perfectionist in everything she set her mind to, from years spent working as an environmental field technician to long hours in the kitchen cooking or baking her delicious recipes. She was incredibly talented with her hands; she maintained amazing gardens and enjoyed many crafts including knitting, sewing, crochet, and cross-stitch. She had a very large heart and at numerous times opened her home to friends who had nowhere else to live. A Celebration of Life picnic will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Dutton Shadyside Park, 7343 Hammond Ave.

At this very difficult time I would like to extend my condolences an share words of encouragment for both you and your loved ones. We may often wonder, why is life so short? And if we will ever see our loved ones again? The Bible holds out a hope that has personally put my heart at ease in times of grief. John 5:28,29 states clearly that we can see and hold our loved ones once again. This has given me peace of mind and something to wait for in the near future. I truly hope it does so for you and your loved ones as well.
