Carol Sasso

Carol Ann Sasso, age 75, of Jenison, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 14, 2022. She graduated with honors from Rogers High School in Wyoming, and retired from Huntington Bank. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing with friends. Carol loved traveling to Florida with her husband, Bart for 22 Michigan winters. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite pastimes included playing card games such as “Hand and Foot”, dominoes, and doing word puzzles. Carol will be missed for her loving and quiet ways, and for her love for her family. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Kimberly Sasso Dykema, Michelle Sasso; parents, William and Cecilia Van Belkum; parents-in-law, Anthony and Evelyn Sasso; and brother, Bill Van Belkum. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Bart “Sandy” Sasso; daughter, Kathryn (Art) Thompson; grandchildren, Brian Dykema, Heather Dykema, and Christopher Thompson; brothers, John (Connie) Van Belkum, Joe Van Belkum; sister-in-law, Augustina Kreger; brother-in-law, Tony Sasso; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family extends their appreciation to Spectrum Health Hospice for the exceptional care given to Carol. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
