Carol Joyce (Essenburg) Hoffman, age 79, of Grandville, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Hoffman; and her daughter, Kathleen Nicholas. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Laurie (Ken) Dwarshuis, Linda Schmidt, Sharon Tyron;  grandchildren, Marie, Sarah (Brett), Renae, Bill (Erica), Amanda (Kurt), Valerie (Andy), Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Noah, Mady, Olivia and Aurelia, Kaylynn; sister, Judy (Wade) Nykamp; brother-in-law, Jim (Carol) Hoffman; many nieces and nephews; and her “winter family” in Florida.  Carol loved quilting, gardening flowers and vegetables and was a very active volunteer at the Lion’s Lair Homeowner Association in Grassy Key, FL.  She was an encourager, great supporter and loved her family dearly.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  According to Carol’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held on Friday at Grandville Cemetery.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Lion’s Lair Homeowner Association - Social Committee.
