Carol G. (Winters) VanDyke entered into eternal life peacefully at home with her family after a long illness on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Chris, Henry, Walter, Jerry, Peter, Josephine, Helen and Corrine. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Henry; her children, Cameron (Rachael) VanDyke, Kurt (VanDyke) Johnson, Jolene (Mauricio) Deras; grandchildren, Aubriel VanDyke, Jordan Deras, Leonard Deras; her sisters and brothers, Mary Ann (Ralph) VanKuiken, Kenneth (Lena) Winters, Kathleen VanderKlipp, Robert (Mary) Winters, and Jennifer Winters. Carol loved being outdoors gardening, helping neighbors with their yards, visiting parks, and coffee at the Big Lake. She had a servant’s heart all her life, nursing patients at Mary Free Bed and Pine Rest, volunteering as a leader of VBS programs and serving as a librarian at her children’s school, volunteering with Crossroads Prison Ministries, and caring for family and neighbors in need. The family is grateful for the care Carol received from the staff of Care Resources (PACE Program). Funeral services for Carol will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE with Chaplain Gary Kooy officiating. Interment in Pine Hill Cemetery. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service.
