Carol Boerkoel

Carol Joanne Boerkoel, age 83, of Grand Rapids went peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, May 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Louise Betten, husband Fred Boerkoel, infant grandson Aaron. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lynda (Randy) Schipper, Karen Statler, Rick (Connie) Boerkoel, 7 loving grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. Her siblings Marianne Boersema, Roger (Jill) Betten, Louis (Geri) Betten, and Judith Betten, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Carol was a warm, caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed opening her home to care for children in the neighborhood and swimming in the pool. She loved playing games with her grandkids. Carol had a servant’s heart and volunteered at Kids’ Hope, made clothes and quilts for children, especially newborns and premature babies and worked at Senior Neighbors. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, May 14, 2021 at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard Ave. SE, Cutlerville, MI 49548, with Rev. Curt Walters officiating. Carol’s family will greet relatives and friends, at the church from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Neighbors, Inc. or Covenant Christian Reformed Church.
