Carlene Jo Hartman

Carlene Hartman (Myrick), age 87 of Holland, passed away on March 9, 2025. Carlene Jo Hartman was born February 16, 1938, to Carl and Julia Myrick. The youngest of three children, her oldest brother was Ronald E. Myrick and loving sister, Sandra (Myrick) Wennersten. She lived on 10^th Street until she was 15 years old. The family moved to 121 18^th Street and lived there until she married. Carlene went to elementary school at Washington Elementary from 1^st- 4^th grade, after that she attended Holland Christian School. Her teenage years were spent at Holland High School and graduated in 1956. Carlene married Curtis Baldwin in 1958 and divorced in 1969. 

Carlene married Jack Hartman in 1973 and gained 5 stepchildren. Carlene worked at Sears and Roebuck on 8^th Street for many, many years. Loving her job in the hardware section of Sears, she went on to work at True Value Hardware on the North Side. She loved to go to Ottawa State Park, watch the sunset and enjoy her children and grandchildren. Many Saturday mornings would find Carlene at a good garage sale, digging for the ultimate bargain. Their home on Mary Avenue was home to many kids in their neighborhood and Carlene loved entertaining them all with toys, candy, and costumes. Carlene enjoyed traveling to the mountains of Colorado and waters and sands of Beaver Island. She met her very first friend, Verna (Grotenhuis) Quist in seventh grade. They continued to be best friends and loved to see each other as much as possible, even during the last years of life. She lived a good life and loved nothing more than being with her family and friends. She loved to laugh and had a smile that lit up many rooms.      

Carlene is survived by her beloved husband Jack, her daughter Julie and Mike Magliocchetti; stepchildren Kim and Jim Mentzer, Brent and Jennifer Hartman, Scott and Pam Hartman, 15 grandchildren and many, many beloved great-grandchildren including Tara Zornow who was like a daughter to Carlene and Jack. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Baldwin and stepchildren John Hartman and Terrie Hartman-Bullinger.  

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on March 29, 2025 with lunch following at Rose Park Reformed Church, 14241 Rose Park Drive, Holland MI 49424. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hand to Hand program at Rose Park Reformed Church.
