Carl D. Mitchell

Mr. Carl D. Mitchell, aged 92, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025.  Carl proudly served our country in the US Army. He retired from Keeler Brass and was a truly unique individual with a variety of interesting hobbies and passions. He was an avid collector of old records and loved playing cards. He enjoyed sharing his musical talents by singing at nursing homes. Carl was also a big fan of the Booth Brothers and gospel music. Beyond his musical interests, he had a knack for entertaining others by reciting poems and telling jokes. He was preceded in death by several brothers, James, Russell, Glen, Allen, Loren; sisters, Donna Johnson and Mary Mitchell. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Dorothy; children, Carol and Micky Kadzban, Donald Mitchell, Dianna and Gary Montcastle; grandchildren, Mike Kadzban, Lisa and Mike DeYoung, Barry and Kimberly Abbott, Andrew and Lacey Abbott, Chelsie and Dave Stout; many great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gerald Mitchell, Marguerite Schooland, Marie Schenk, Delores and George DeVuist, Lloyd and Hannah Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Kay Mitchell, Nellie Mitchell, Betty and Loren Williams. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating.  Burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.For those who wish contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
