Bruce Harvey

HARVEY - Bruce W. Harvey, 67, passed away August 3, 2013 peacefully with his family by his side. Bruce was born December 26, 1945 the third son of Fred D. & Ethel B. Harvey in Grand Rapids. He attended & graduated from Central High School in 1964, where he was active in sports. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing, watching all sports and traveling with his family. Bruce was a faithful & dedicated deputy for the Kent County Sheriff Department and a Grand Valley State College Certified EMT, who protected his community and performed admirably as he put his life in harm's way apprehending criminals, delivering babies, rescuing the life of a small child involved in a car crash and numerous other duties. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted daughter, Eve Rene Harvey, his two adorable grandsons, Christian & Chanin; brothers, Father Errol Harvey of Miami, FL & Paul R. Harvey of Grand Rapids, MI; Marva Armstrong of Indianapolis, IN a loving friend who he held close to his heart; his best friend, Leroy McIntosh of Grand Rapids, MI and his two 4-legged companions, Buttercup & Milo and a host of relatives and friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 6:00-7:45 pm at Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave., Wyoming, with scripture, closing prayer and Honor Guard Presentation by the Kent County Sheriffs Department will be held at 7:45PM.
