Bruce Alan DeVries, age 76, of Hudsonville, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was born April 17, 1950, to the late John and Fanny DeVries. 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence, Jay, and John DeVries and sister, Carol (John) Dekkinga. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Marcia DeVries; children, Michelle (Randy) Dykema, Leanna (Jon) Kermeen, Cara (Scott) Crouch, Rebecca (Jeff) Steigenga, Alan (Lauren) DeVries, and Jonathan DeVries; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Dornbush; sisters-in-law, Mary (Will) Huizing, Carolyn R. DeVries, Carolyn A. DeVries, and Mary (Larry) Aldrink; and many nieces and nephews. 

Bruce was a faithful and devoted man who was deeply involved in his church. He taught Sunday school and faithfully served as both an elder and deacon. He was instrumental in the building and expansion of Evergreen Ministries in Hudsonville and participated in several mission trips. Bruce was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and also volunteered for the Jamestown Fire Department for many years.

Above all, Bruce cherished his family and always made them a priority, especially his beloved wife, Marcia. He enjoyed camping, fishing, deer camp, and many special memories made at their family cabin. Bruce also had a tender heart for dogs and cats. His strong faith, servant’s heart, devotion to his family, and willingness to help others will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Thomas Walcott officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 30, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Zutphen Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice.
