Brian James Leroux, of Grand Rapids, beloved by all who knew him, put up a strong fight but passed away far too soon at the age of 61, surrounded by family, on Friday, May 19, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Leroux; mother, Theresa Leroux; brother, John Leroux; brother-in-law, John Huistra.  He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda (Tarchinski) Leroux, who was the love of his life; children, Julee Leroux (Stephen Herrick), Joseph James Leroux (Jennifer Perez), Theresa (Terry) Chrisman; Jenny (Jason) Lewis, Bob (Diza) Bykerk, Cristy (Tony) Simon; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Bruce) Walcott, Jane (Dick) Evans; brother, Paul (Heidi) Leroux.  Brian loved life and went through it with a sense of humor. He was a man who played as hard as he worked. He retired from the State of Michigan and was currently employed at Steelcase Wood. He had so much pride and love for his wife, and he adored his children and grandchildren. Driving his pontoon boat was one of his greatest joys. Brian enjoyed a good cigar, watching movies at home, and spending time at the lake. He was a strong liberal. Brian’s favorite color was blue, so the family will wear blue in his honor.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St. NE, Grand Rapids, with Fr. Patrick Grile Celebrant. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Wyoming), 4031 Clyde Park SW, Brian was a giver, always quick to lend a helping hand to both friends and strangers.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries.

I will remember his smile every time we saw each other we just laughed because of past ribbing that we use to give each other. We also talked a lot about snowmobiling cause we didn't mind winter. Our prayers go out to his friends and family may God carry you through these times.

I am part of Brian's Steelcase family who loved him. We will miss him terribly, but will forever remember him. I especially loved that Major League sense of humor of his. We had our differences when it came to politics, but that didn't prevent the admiration and respect I had for him. It's seems so unfair that he and Linda came so far with the leukemia and all... And now he's gone in an instant. I guess it's not for us to question, only to accept and keep our faith in God to help us get through times like this. My heart goes out to Linda and all of Brians family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. Lunchtime at G.R. Wood will never be the same.
