Brian J. Bellgraph

Brian James Bellgraph, age 47, of Grandville, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Bellgraph.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jennifer; two sons, Logan and Ian; mother, Ava Jo Bellgraph;  sisters, Rachel Bellgraph, Renee and Tony Pham; parents-in-law, Dave and Pat Hurley; sister-in-law Jodi Hurley; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Jeremy Hurley;  several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  Brian was a loving, caring husband and father.  Everything he did was for his kids, wife, and youth hockey.  He was an Associate Coach in Chief for USA Hockey, District Director and District Coaching Director for District 6, and former varsity coach for Grand Rapids Public Schools.  Everyone who met Brian became a priority to him.   Relatives and friends may meet the family from 4 to 8 pm Monday, February 10 with a time for sharing at 6:00 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA), District 6, PO Box 411, Shelbyville, MI, 49344.

  1. Brian was a true believer that anything is possible. The two years my son played for him helped build the man he has become. We will rejoice for having known him and cry that he’s gone too soon.

  12. We are so sad that God has called Brian home, His time is so hard to accept on this earth. Brian coached my son last year, as he coached his son Ian alongside. He was a great coach and we are grateful to have had that privilege. He was so helpful to my wife, Sue, the team manager giving his time and knowledge so generously. We offer our condolences and prayers for peace, comfort and the blessings of fond memories.

  19. Please know what a major positive impact your Brian made on our son Jake, nicknamed Goose. He took to hockey in the 10th grade and Brian told him so many things that helped him learn and grow. Sometimes he told him things he did not want to hear like a good coach should! We are shocked to learn of his untimely passing! Godspeed to you all!
