Brenda Stroven

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved wife and mother, Brenda Kay Stroven (Hovenkamp), age 62, of Grand Rapids. She is now resting pain free and in eternal glory where we shall meet again. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elaine Hovenkamp. Brenda was a loving wife and mother who cherished her family and friends and put others before herself. She was blessed with the gift of always being there for others and giving a listening ear. She had the gift of hospitality where she was a gracious host, entertaining many family and friends over the years at her home. She had a strong work ethic, working for Mont Surfaces for many years in sales. Above all, her faith in Jesus and love for her family was evident to all who knew her. She will lovingly remembered by her husband of 28 years, DeVere; her children, Haley Stroven, Riley Stroven; her siblings, Janet and Henry Gerrits, Mary Hovenkamp; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Camille and Dave Van Dyke, Vicki Stroven; several loving nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, November 29, from 2-5 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A private family funeral service will be held on Monday. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to organizations that were a part of Brenda’s cancer journey, Cancer Commons (cancercommons.org), or Beautiful You By Profile.
