Blanche D. VanderBent

Blanche D. VanderBent (née Meyer), age 101, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, to whom she was married for 68 years. Surviving are her three children, Carol Gustavson, Sharon (Dirk) Pegman, Sandy (Bob) Navis; her dearly loved grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren; and numerous other people who called her Mom, Grandma and dear friend. Blanche’s heart for people led her to be involved with ministries such as ICCF, food pantries, Degage, and her gift of hospitality and service led to her involvement with numerous refugees and immigrants as well as many other relationships. (She was the very definition of “woke” meaning she cared about all people.) A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Westview Christian Reformed Church, 2929 Leonard St. NW. Her family will greet relatives and friends on hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ICCF or Emmanuel Hospice.
