Billy Joe Green Sr.

Mr. Billy “BJ” Green, age 81, of Kentwood passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, August 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Linda J. Green; son, Billy Joe Green Jr.; grandson, Billy Joe Green III; 13 brothers and sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Bonnie (Bryan) BruinsSlot; grandchildren, Tabatha (Zachary) Koffink, Gavin BruinsSlot, Reed BruinsSlot, Marissa (Davis) Hynes; brother, Larry (Glen) Green; many nieces and nephews. We will all miss him very much, including old friends and new ones. The many things Billy enjoyed in his life were camping, traveling with his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Glen, and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed time with his longtime best friend, Bob Downing. Billy proudly served his country as a Marine from 1960 to 1964. He retired in 1998 from a career as a truck driver and was a Teamster member for 31 years. Billy was always gracious. Whenever anyone asked him how he was doing, his response was “Better than I deserve. Life is good, and we had a good run!” He was a member of Garden Park Church of God for 46 years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11 am at Garden Park Church of God, 5615 Madison SE, Grand Rapids, MI. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
