Bettye Jean Huber

Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on March 20, 1934 to Alphus and Ruth Chelette (Price). Bettye grew up with her 4 siblings until she met her sweetheart, Jim Huber at 16. She moved to the Grand Rapids area 2 years after marrying, where they established their home and raised their 4 beloved children, Sue, Jim, Peggy, and Michael. 

After her husband passed away in 1975, Bettye raised her three remaining children in the home while working at the Meijer pharmacy. 

Faith has been the cornerstone holding sure in every transition of her life. She faithfully served at Heritage Baptist Church for over 50 yrs as a youth leader, she cherished women’s bible studies, and volunteered with her daughter, Peggy, cleaning the church to ready it for worship. She trusted in Jesus’ love and mercy even through the passing of her children, Peggy, Michael, and infant child.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her brothers, Earl and Ralph; sister, Mildred; daughter, Peggy Long, and her son Michael. She is survived in death by her daughter, Sue and husband, Mike Charles, their five children and nine grandchildren, her son, Jim and wife, Pam Huber, his four children and eleven grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter Peggy’s husband, Bruce Long, their two children, and four grandchildren and her son, Michael’s wife, Betsy; her sister, Joyce Strictland. She will be greatly missed by them all. Services will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 60th and Kalamazoo, Kentwood at 12 o’clock noon on September 13, 2025. Visitation will be held before the service for family at 10 am and open to friends at 11 am. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
