Betty McEwen

Betty Marie (Coleman) McEwen, age 81, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, with her family by her side after an 18-year fight with cancer. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy Van Antwerp; grandsons, Ryan and Ethan; her niece and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Ree; and her cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Earl; son, Matt; and sister, Mary Waara. Her inner strength and determination allowed her to travel with her family which she loved. Betty enjoyed weekly lunches for over twenty years with her lunch bunch friends at Little Joes and many years of lunches with her high school friends at Brickstreet. She was very active on the Mandeville High School reunion committee. Betty worked as a preschool teacher and held other positions over the years. She was a dedicated grandparent to her grandsons who adored her. A wonderful and loving mother, wife, mother-in-law, sister, grammy, aunt, and friend whose laugh, smiles and presence will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Blanc Parks and Recreation - Creasey Bicentennial Park Facilities Improvement Fund in Betty’s memory.
