Betty Mae Longbrake

Betty Mae Longbrake, age 91, of Kentwood, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Murray Longbrake; parents, Arthur and Cora Hillard; special family friend, Eileen Longbrake.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael Longbrake, Susan (Tom) Cummins, Lisa (Chuck) Cassiday; grandchildren, Cora, Emmy, John, Matthew, Erica, Shannon, Ryan, Quinten; many great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Hayes; extended family and friends.  Family director and socialite Betty loved to be where the action was. She mentored at a local elementary school, volunteered in her community, and was active in her church congregation. Betty’s family, her husband of 68 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment in life. Truly, she carried a servant’s heart. No one moved around Betty without her asking, “What do ya need?” “Serve one another humbly in love,” Galatians 5:13.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15 at 11 am at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3152 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI, with Rev. Lee Welker officiating.  Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10 am until the time of the service at church.
