Betty Jeltes

Betty Jeltes (nee Burnett), age 90, of Hudsonville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2025, after a long illness. She was supported during her illness with the love of family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Verlin and Martha Burnett; her two sisters; and one brother. Surviving are her two children, David and Erin Jeltes of Welaka, FL, Kathy Jackson and Mike Lynch of Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Christen and Lance Hickey, Julia and Brian Parker, Meggan and Jeff Dougherty, Allen Mirr; four great-grandsons, Noah and Cash Drayton, Levi Hickey, Caleb Parker; sisters-in-law, Marcia and Roccy DeFrancesco, Jane Jeltes; many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Hudsonville Reformed Church, 3950 Highland, Hudsonville with Pastor Chad DeGraff officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 4, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.

Kathy & David, Sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. Betty was a wonderful and kind soul who opened her heart and home to our family. She always encouraged connection. Our memories of growing up and times spent with your family in Grandville/Kentwood and later being reacquainted with Kathy in Nevada are dear to me. May you find peace through this sad time.

Betty was an incredible woman! We thank God for her as she was able to be our children’s Sunday school teacher, their very first Sunday school teacher. So many precious memories. We also joined HRC the same time as John and Betty. You will be missed Betty! We love you!

Today 3/31/25 is the 16th anniversary of when John Jeltes passed away. I sent Betty a message “remembering J2” and was informed that Betty had passed on. Betty and John were wonderful people who loved and carefree each other. Betty was a passionate educator and cared deeply for the students at East Kentwood High School. She was positive and upbeat - always going the extra mile. She made a difference in so many lives. I worked with both John and Betty at Kentwood School and was privileged to have them as friends for many years. My sympathy to the family on your loss of this wonderful person. Jerry Hunsburger
