Bernice Sweeney

Bernice Mary Sweeney (Smentek), age 97, of Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022. She is survived by her children: Pat (Tim) Mariner, Sue Myrick-Veldkamp, Barb (Shorty) Williams, Michelle McCasland (Mike Taylor), Joan Smith (Jack Veldkamp), Bob (Kim) Sweeney, John (Chris) Sweeney; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Smentek; her husband of 67 years, Philip; brothers and sister: Joseph, Edward, Henry, Chester, Leonard, and Irene; son-in-law, Robert Veldkamp; grandson,Matthew Smith; great grandsons, Caden and Gabriel. Bernice retired from Sears after many years of service as a switchboard operator. She was always positive and happy. Her laugh was a comfort to everyone she encountered. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family from 10-11am prior to the service at the church. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
