Bernice Louise Velzen, age 91, of Grandville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Sr.; children, Henry Velzen, Linda Roer, Valerie Hodges; and infant children, Robert Lee Velzen and Sandra Lynn Velzen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gerry Jr. and Freda Velzen, David and Michelle Velzen; daughter-in-law, Karen Velzen; son-in-law, Terry Roer; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sister, Priscilla and Will Huizing; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jane Velzen, Lillian Grissen, Frank Velzen. A memorial service will be held on Friday 2:30 PM at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd., Hudsonville with Rev. Brian Bosscher officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 1:00-2:15 PM at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pine Rest Christian Services or Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church.

We have lost another of our family's greatest generation. I remember with fondness the great Thanksgiving parties in the house on the other side of the parking lot from the bakery.
