Bernice “Bernie” Mae Kornoelje, age 95, of Jenison, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Henry, her devoted husband of 55 years, preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kerri and Tom TenBrink, and Kurt and Becky Kornoelje; grandchildren, Jessica (David) Fry, Tyler (Resa) TenBrink, Trevor (Kelly) TenBrink, Ethan Kornoelje (Madison Jones), Karah Kornoelje, Joslyn (Mitch) Ashcraft, Karissa Kornoelje, Kelli Kornoelje (Alex Romero); great-grandchildren, Elliott Fry, Theo and Parker TenBrink, Landon Carter, and Miles Kornoelje, and coming Baby Ashcraft; brother-in-law, Gerald (Betty) Kornoelje; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kornoelje; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was a faithful wife, loving mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. In her professional life she was a dedicated secretary at Newhall Elementary and Bursley Elementary Schools, and Assistant Director of Jenison/Hudsonville Food Service. Upon her retirement from Jenison Public Schools, she worked as a secretary at Wyoming Park Bible Fellowship Church. Bernie lived a life of service. She continued to give back to others through her active volunteerism in numerous ministry capacities.
She left a legacy of Christ followers. She never missed an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Her heart’s cry was for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to have their own personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Bernie was a “sold out” disciple of Jesus and lived her life based on God’s Scriptures. There is no doubt upon her arrival in Heaven she heard the words, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant!”
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Jenison Bible Church, 6360 14th Ave. Hudsonville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:30-10:45 am prior to the service at the church, or during the light luncheon following the service. A private interment with immediate family will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Bible Church Mission Fund.
