Bernard Dale Kowal Jr. (11/15/53) passed away peacefully on the morning of July 22, 2019 at the age of 65. Bernard was born to Bernard and Alice Kowal and grew up in Grand Rapids, attending Rogers High School and Davenport College.  After marrying Diane (Walkowicz), they moved to Rockford to raise their 3 daughters. His Catholic faith and his family were the 2 things he loved most. He was most especially proud of his 3 daughters and the women they became. Though his final years were filled with much suffering, his family has great confidence in the Lord’s deep love and mercy for his son. Our heavenly Mother Mary most certainly had a special love for him, as he was very devoted to the Rosary. He is survived by his daughters, Sister Sara Kowal, Christine Richards (Mike), and Molly Fowler (Brad); his grandchildren, LoveLynn, Evan, Kaylee, Savannah, Brooklyn and Isaac; his dear sister Mary Conner (Rob) who cared for him lovingly until his death; and his brothers Greg, David, Michael and Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Alice. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 5-7pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park, Wyoming, MI 49509 and will conclude with a Rosary prayer service at 7pm. The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Consolation, 4865 11 Mile Road NE, Rockford, with visitation one hour prior.
