Bernadine Wiersma

WIERSMA -Mrs. Bernadine C. Wiersma, aged 81 went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Courtade; brother, Leo Courtade. Surviving are her husband, of 61 years, Jack Wiersma; children, Emilie (Mike) Nicklawsky, Brian (Audrey King) Wiersma, Lori (David) Howell; grandchildren, Eric (Paige) Downing, Christopher (Jeremy Johnson) Downing, Andrew Nicklawsky, Matthew Wiersma, Mary Wiersma, Tuesday (Dan) Masoero, Cailly (Tyler) Howell-McLean; brother, Ray (Sue) Courtade, sister-in-law Carol Courtade; several nieces and nephews. Bernadine graduated from Coopersville High School and Mercy Central School of Nursing. Bernadine was an avid gardener, loved to travel, was an accomplished oil painter and loved playing cards and board games with her family. She worked as a Register Nurse at St. Mary's, Ferguson and Blodgett Hospitals. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, January 29, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft Ave SE., Caledonia. Her family will greet relatives and friends 2 - 4 PM Sunday, at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Wyoming and from 10-11AM prior to the service at church.
