Beatriz Marrero-Rivera

Beatriz (Betty) Marrero-Rivera passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 at the age of 90. 

She was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico. In later years, she moved to Chicago where she lived until 1980 when she moved back to Puerto Rico. In 2022, she came to Michigan where she remained until her passing. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Juan & Isabel Marrero; her husband, Pedro Rivera; great-grandson, Rico; and great-granddaughter, Lisa; in addition to 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her only child, Evelyn (Evie); grandchildren and their wives; great-grandchildren; and a few great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother and sister. 

To know Betty or Mama Betty as she was known and lovingly called by all; was to love her. She was a loving and caring person who made friends wherever she went. 

Mama Betty was best known for her love to dance! She could not hear music because no matter where she was, she would start dancing. Whether at the supermarket; the flea market; mall, wherever, she danced. Her favorite dancing partner here on Earth was her first born grandson, Willie-Boy as she so lovingly called him. 

So, if Angels in Heaven know how to play Salsa on their harps, they better get ready because Mama Betty will be busting out her moves on the clouds!! Rest in Peace Mama Betty, you will be greatly missed by all.
