Bartel J. Boogerd, age 81, of Grand Rapids, went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 5, 2018.  Bart was born and raised in Hull, Iowa and married Mazie (Fikse).  They later moved to Grand Rapids to raise their family.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He had an accounting and tax firm in his community for decades.  Bart loved to serve on various boards and organizations, especially active at his church, Kellogsville CRC.  He was an avid golfer.  Following the death of Mazie, Bart remarried Carole Ann (Crowe) in 2001, who preceded him in death in 2015.  He was also preceded in death by sister, Fannie (Siebert) Haverhals and 3  brothers: James (Marie), Marv, Fred (Jeanette); brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Bud (Catherine) Fikse, Dena (Clayton) DeJong.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Chip (Geri), Tim (Sherri), Mike (Mandi), Ginger Boogerd; 9 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nelva Boogerd, brother-in-law, Arie (Norma) Fikse.  A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Kellogsville Christian Reformed Church, 610 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Martin Benckhuysen officiating.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, and also one hour prior to the service at church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church.
