Bart Sasso

Bart “Sandy” Sasso, age 81, of Jenison, went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 25, 2022, joining his wife of 57 years, Carol, who passed on July 14, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Kimberly Sasso Dykema, Michelle Sasso; parents, Anthony and Evelyn Sasso; parents-in-law, William and Cecilia Van Belkum; and brothers-in-law, Bill Van Belkum, Jerry Kreger. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathryn (Art) Thompson; grandchildren, Brian Dykema, Heather Dykema, and Christopher Thompson; brother, Tony Sasso; sister, Augustina Kreger; brothers-in-law, John (Connie) Van Belkum, Joe Van Belkum; sister-in-law, Barb Van Belkum; and many nieces and nephews. Sandy graduated from Godwin Heights and retired as a supervisor from Diesel Technology. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed sports, excelled at basketball in his younger days, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. Sandy’s family was his passion, it was important to him to be their provider and a father of integrity. He was always a man of his word and he will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone in need. Sandy will be greatly missed for his devotion to his family and sense of humor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
