Barbara Mae Alkema, age 68, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her father, Verlin Goodell; and brothers, Melvin Goodell and Charles Goodell.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Roger Alkema; children, David Alkema, Dan and Kristy Alkema; grandchildren, Mahuginni, Emri, Mongumery, Elden, Adele, Eli Alkema; mother, Donna Goodell; and sister, Marilyn Goodell.  Barb loved making crafts for just about anyone.  She adored her grandchildren and they meant so much to her.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. Entombment will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
