I did not know Barb well. Our teacher/union advocacy work often found us like two ships passing in the night. However, I found her to be a deeply caring person about her co-workers and the pubic teaching profession. She was a powerful advocate. She will be missed.

Barbara and I worked together at MEA when she was president of MEA-Retired. We bonded immediately and worked together so well. She was very creative, dedicated and a hard worker. I will miss our long conversations on the phone, the fun we had together, and the generosity of herself. She was so proud of her family and loved to share what each one was doing and tell of all the get togethers the family had. I will miss the special friendship we shared. Goodby my good friend. I love you.

I'm very sorry to hear of your great loss. Barbara sounded like a wonderful person & very dear to her family. It's heartbreaking to lose a loved one in death but what has personally helped me during these times is to meditate on the promises found in God's word, the Bible. One of my favorite scriptures, Acts 24:15, speaks of a resurrection of those we've lost in death; that we'll have them back with us! I also keep in my heart Psalms 34:18 where it states that Jehovah is near to the brokenhearted and he saves those crushed in spirit. These words have brought me much comfort; I hope they will bring comfort and strength to you in this terrible time.
