Barbara Joy (Pettengill) Guenther, age 81, of Grand Rapids, was peacefully called to her heavenly home surrounded by her family and dear friends on Monday, May 18, 2015. She was a loving mother and grandmother who had a caring and loving heart that embraced everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Vernon and Beatrice Pettengill; grandparents, Alvin and Mabel Porter; brothers, Alvin, Ronald, Robert “Butch”Pettengill; sister, Alice Macigewski; and dear friend, Katie Seaben. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan Dunn of Dimondale, MI, and Deborah; grandsons, Ryan and fiancée, Kaylea, and Brandon Dunn; great granddaughter, Vienna Coats-Dunn; brother, Vernon “Ginger” Pettengill; sister, Carol Ely; many loving nieces, nephews; lifelong friend, Arlene (Gordon) Sorensen; and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 2:00 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with Pastor Ron Hudson officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
