Barbara Jean Obetts

Barbara Jean Obetts (Geiger), age 91, of Comstock Park, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born to a very musical family and was raised going to Assumption Church her whole life long. Her faith was very important as she raised her family with the love and support of her husband, Carl. Before he passed away, their family loved traveling, picnicking, and playing cards together. She worked many years as a bank teller. Most of all, she loved Jesus and her daily prayer life with Him. Barbaba was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Joseph Obetts; sister, Mary Catherine and brother, Dick. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Deborah (Charles) Pomarius, Karen (Don) Baker, Nancy (Bill) Falkowski, Theresa (Bob) Smith; daughter-in-law, Nancy Obetts; 17 grandchildren; 21.5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Maxine Scott. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Diane, Linda and Chris (Barbara’s caregivers) for their loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6369 Belmont Ave. NE, Belmont, with Rev. Tony Pelak presiding. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. A rosary will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at ABVM St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption’s Building on a Firm Foundation project or Consolata Sisters.
