Barbara Jean Gerrits, age 82, of Hudsonville, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1942, to the late Gerrit and Caroline Assink. Barb had a humble spirit with a servant heart always thinking of others before herself. Barb grew up with her loving parents on a farm in Holland, Michigan. She learned the value of hard work and developed a passion for gardening. Barb always enjoyed traveling with Art and friends throughout the years. She truly loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barb is lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Art, who she married on April 5, 1961; three children: Sandy (Brian) Marlink, Sharon (Dave) Sytsma, Tim (Jodi) Gerrits, son-in-law, Barry Lambers, ten grandchildren: Eric, Kristi, Nicole Marlink, Jared (Tatjcha) Lambers, Justin Lambers, Kevin Sytsma, Matt (Ellie) Sytsma, Max (Carissa) Gerrits, Claire (Jake) Kalkman, Andrea (Dylan) Morrison, four great-grandchildren: Miles and Calvin Sytsma, Charlotte Kalkman, and Harrison Gerrits.  She was preceded in death by her daughter; Kathy Lambers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Messiah Christian Reformed Church, 2900 Springdale, Hudsonville, with Pastor Nate Meldrim officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday, September 17, from 5-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. and on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice, Area 12 Special Olympics, or Rehoboth Christian School.
