Barbara Ann Mehler

Barbara Ann (Dibblee) Mehler, age 82, of Wyoming, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, September 18, 2017.  She was reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Mehler, who left us three years ago.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Maxine Dibblee; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Mehler; her sister, Connee Sutter; brothers-in-law, Robert Sutter, Irv Lang, Leo Mehler Jr., James Holzbach, Donald Zimmerman; and sister-in-law, Peggy Zimmerman.  She is survived by her loving children, Laurel (James) Degnan of Chicago, IL; Michael (Dana) Mehler of Cypress, TX; sister, Darlene Lang; brother, Robert (Diane) Dibblee; sister-in-law, Dolores Holzbach; and many nieces and nephews.  Barbara graduated from Hammond High School and attended Purdue University.  Her career included working at Valparaiso University and with Richard at Grand Valley State University.  Barbara’s true calling in life was being a devoted wife to Richard and a loving mother to her two children.  She was a kind, gentle soul who never hesitated to open her heart and home to all.  Barbara will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 1933 Tremont Blvd. NW, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Craig Swanson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be served at the church following the service.  An additional memorial service in Munster, IN will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to First Evangelical Covenant Church or The Salvation Army.
